About the Founder
Founder and President of TheAdmissionGame.Com,
Peter Van Buskirk is a 25-year veteran of the selective
admission process. Known for his candor and insight, Peter's
ability to demystify and personalize a complex and often
mysterious selection admission process makes his a trusted
and highly sought after perspective among students and
their parents.
An accomplished strategist, author,
and motivational speaker, Peter is the creator/ presenter
of "The Admission Game®", an interactive case study
approach to the selective admission process. "The Admission
Game®" has been presented to more than 450 high schools,
summer camps, and corporate audiences world-wide totalling
nearly 40,000 people since its inception. He also wrote
"The Admission Game®," a widely acclaimed publication
on the selective admission process.
A graduate of Bucknell University,
he moved through the ranks at Franklin & Marshall College
to become Dean of Admission, Interim Director of Athletics,
Associate Vice President for enrollment management, and
finally, Executive Officer in the Office of the Provost.
Prior to joining the admission staff at F & M, Peter worked
in admission and public relations at Juniata College for
two years.
During his Franklin and Marshall
tenure, Peter initiated a successful international recruitment
program that has featured special programming and keynote
addresses in South America, the Caribbean, the Pacific
Rim, the Arabian Penninsula, and the Asian Subcontinent.
He also implemented an innovative standardized testing
option and was instrumental in integrating a competitive
merit scholarship program into the financial aid program.
Peter is an active member of
the National Association of College Admission Counselors
(NACAC), the American Association of College Registrars
and Admission Officers (AACRAO), and the Military Child
Education Coalition. He participates in annual NACAC conferences,
attends the College Board Colloquium, and reads with the
College Board's Scholarship and Recognition Programs Review
Committee.
A graduate of the Management Development
Program at Harvard University, Peter was a presenter at
the 1998 National Research Council Symposium on Standardized
Testing. He co-founded and continues to host the "No Name"
Conference, an annual roundtable meeting of senior admission,
secondary school, and independent counseling staff from
around the country, now in its 15th year.
A parent of three, Peter is a
veteran of "The Admission Game®" on the home-front
as well. His stories "from the road" add humor and perspective
to his presentations.
